The Department of Mechanical Engineering came in to being in the year 2005.
Admissions to U.G. and P.G. programmes are carried out by the Government nominated admission committee (http://jacpcldce.ac.in).
At present, Department offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses as follows:
B.E.[Mechanical Engineering] : 60
M.E.[Mechanical – Production Engineering] : 12
M.E.[Mechanical – Thermal Engineering] : 12
Also, the Department has a Skill Development Centre in the area of CNC/VMC with modern facilities in CAD/CAM along with due approval from The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (Government of Gujarat) since 2017.
The department has well equipped laboratory and workshop facilities with modern sophisticated equipment to carry out research in all areas related to Mechanical Engineering.
It is my immense pleasure to welcome you to the departments of Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines. It involves the use of engineering physics, mathematics, and materials science to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. Mechanical engineers have an important role to play in practically every industry; be it automotive, aerospace, chemical, process, electronics or software. Be it sports, medical or any product development; mechanical engineers contribute to it substantially.
Department of Mechanical Engineering well equipped with state-of-art laboratory infrastructure and softwares like AutoCAD, SOLID EDGE, Pro-E and UGNX, The department also trains students for latest simulation software- COMSOL Multiphysics and analysis software -ANSYS. The department is equipped with conventional machine tools like Lathe ,Milling, Drilling,Grinding machines as well as Latest technology machine tools like 4-Axis VMC, CNC turning Centre/Lathe etc..,The department holds state of the art welding simulator and metallurgy laboratory.
Department of Mechanical Engineering has adequate and well-qualified doctorate faculty members who also act as supervisors for Ph.D. programs being run by affiliating university viz. Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya (https://ksvuniversity.org.in/). Our faculties are continuously attending various training programs, publishing research papers, books and filing patents. Many are pursuing research. Our departments have been conducting seminars / conferences/workshops to keep the faculty and students updated as per the needs of industries.
The core values of the departments is to help the students to develop their overall personality and make them worthy to compete and work at global level. Sound support to Student Research, BAJA, SUPRA, efficycle etc. to develop all-round personality of our students with different co-curricular & extracurricular activities. Regular activities are arranged and encouraged in the departments for indigenous product development, skills enhancement and interdisciplinary interactions.

CAD/CAM
Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) technologies enable efficient product development. CAD/CAM software is used for designing and manufacturing prototypes, creating finished products, and simulating production runs.The CAD/CAM Center is equipped with advanced machinery, including a CNC Lathe Vertical Machining Center, Additionally, it features industry-relevant software such as Creo Parametric, SOLIDEDGE (NX CAD), ANSYS.
Theory of Machine & Dynamics Laboratory
The Dynamics Laboratory is equipped with various experimental setups, including an FFT Analyzer, Universal Vibration Apparatus, Dynamic Balancing Machine, Universal Governor Apparatus, Motorized Gyroscope, Whirling of Shaft Apparatus, Cam Analysis Apparatus, Single Rotor and Two Rotor System, and Epicyclic Gears These instruments facilitate the practical verification of fundamental theoretical principles in kinematics and machine dynamics.
Robotics & IOT
The Robotics & IoT Lab in the Mechanical Engineering Department fosters innovation in automation, AI, and smart systems. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, it enables students to design, program, and prototype intelligent machines. The lab supports research in robotics, IoT applications, and industry 4.0 solutions, bridging academia and real-world advancements.
Measurement & Instrumentation
The Measurement & Instrumentation Lab equips students with hands-on experience in precision measurement techniques and instrument calibration. It features advanced devices like strain gauges, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and digital measuring instruments. This lab enhances students’ understanding of metrology, error analysis, and sensor technology, essential for accurate data acquisition in engineering applications.
Renewable Energy Laboratory
Well equipped renewable energy laboratory with modern infrastructure for solar & wind energy. Real Time Infrastructure projects did by faculties & research scholars for academic & research.
Heat Transfer Laboratory
The Heat Transfer Laboratory is equipped with various setups to demonstrate fundamental heat transfer principles, including Fourier’s law of heat conduction, natural and forced convection, Stefan-Boltzmann law, critical radius, and extended surfaces with natural and forced convection. Additionally, the laboratory features an indigenously developed wind tunnel facility for studying and analyzing aerodynamic objects
Fluid Mechanics Laboratory
The Fluid Mechanics Laboratory is equipped with various turbines, pumps, and experimental setups to provide practical verification of fluid mechanics and hydraulic machine principles. It facilitates flow measurement and calibration using devices such as venturi meters, orifice meters, and test rigs for analyzing flow losses due to friction and pipe fittings. Additionally, the laboratory enables the study of performance characteristics of different turbomachines.
Material Science and Metallurgy Laboratory
Engineering metrology applies measurement science to manufacturing processes, ensuring the accuracy of measuring instruments, their calibration, and quality control of manufactured components.
The Metrology and Instrumentation Laboratory is equipped with advanced measurement and calibration instruments, including a profile projector, toolmaker’s microscope, optical interferometer, calibration micrometer, electronic comparator, slip gauge sets, dead weight pressure gauge, surface plate, micrometers, and vernier calipers
Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Laboratory
The Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Laboratory is equipped to demonstrate the principles, construction, and applications of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.The laboratory features various refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, including a vapor-compression refrigeration test rig, auto-defrosting refrigerator, split air-conditioner test rig, window AC, air cooler, evaporative cooler, cascade refrigerator, vapor absorption refrigerator, and heat pump.
Automobile engineering
The Automobile Engineering Lab provides hands-on experience in vehicle dynamics, engine testing, and automotive systems. Equipped with modern diagnostic tools, engine models, and simulation software, it enables students to analyze and innovate in the automotive sector, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in vehicle design and performance.
Modernize workshop
The Central Workshop is a vital unit of the institute, where students gain hands-on experience in using various hand tools and equipment to manufacture practical products. In addition to supporting undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD research projects, it also facilitates fabrication work for student competitions such as SAE-BAJA, E-BAJA.
First-year undergraduate students acquire essential manufacturing skills through practical training in fitting, carpentry, welding, soldering, plumbing, machining, smithy, and sheet metal workshops. This hands-on experience builds confidence for future product design and manufacturing activities. Additionally, the workshop provides maintenance support for various laboratories across the university campus.
Every year, all semester, students get exposure to futuristic developments and research oriented upgrades available across industries by Expert talks, Seminars and Webinars. The experts from various industries i.e. CAD/CAM , automation , CAE, HVAC, Automobile engineering , Nano science, Additive Manufacturing etc…gives expert talk to students.
Every year, all semester, students visit Industries and reputed organizations. The exposure to the organisations like ISRO-Indian Space Research Organisation – Ahmedabad, IACE-International Automobile Centre of Excellence-Gandhinagar, SPRERI- Sardar Patel Renewable Energy Research Institute – Anand, etc.. improves thought process and subject understanding of students. Along with it students also visit industries like S.T. Workshop, , Accurate Engineering- , MAHAGUJARAT Foundry , Keepsake automation ,ICEMAKE Pvt. Ltd, etc…to learn more about manufacturing practices and developments going on in industries.
INDUSTRIAL TRAININGS:
Every year, pre final and year, students receive industrial training and internships across various Industries, reputed organizations and MNC. The level of training or internship are starting from shop floor training to managerial internships. The students get trained at reputed casting industries, automation industries, HVAC industries, automobile manufacturer’s service layouts, Ports , Manufacturing industries ,fabrication industries, CNC machine manufacturing industries etc. and gets certified for the training on a regular basis.

Green KSV skill development centre (GKSDC) has been established in 2017 with our industrial partner Green field control system (I) pvt. ltd. Gandhinagar. Green KSV skill development centre was approved and assisted by The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Gandhinagar (Govt. of Gujarat, Organization).
Under leadership of Shree Vallabhabhai M. Patel, Chairman, SVKM (Kadi & Gandhinagar) and President, Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya. One successfully governed and executed certificate program of Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya in line with motto of our organization “KAR BHALA HOGA BHALA”.
More than 850 participants enrolled in this program and more than 75% successfully placed till December 2024. Our Alumni are happy share their professional growth in industry.
